Dallas storytelling series Oral Fixation’s latest tackles the theme ‘When in Rome’
(Nicole Stewart, Oral Fixation)
We have so many talented writers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, and Nicole Stewart’s fun “Oral Fixation: An Obsession With True Life Tales” is a great way to discover experienced and new scribes, and get to hear them read their works. This is the third season for the essay series, which outgrew its original space at the McKinney Avenue Contemporary and this year moved to Hamon Hall inside the Winspear Opera House.
A new top-of-show video introduces storytellers to the audience through interview clips and rehearsal outtakes. Each monthly event is centered around a loosely interpreted theme; on Monday, Dec. 16, it’s “When in Rome,” with locales as varied as a “naked sketch party” (yeah, we’re intrigued) and the Ukraine.
