A performer at heart, the rocking and rolling Mary Kreider conquers her fear of public speaking this month on the Oral Fixation stage in “Push the Envelope.
Mary Kreider grew up in South Carolina and graduated from Clemson before landing in Dallas. A 25-year employee of Sewell Lexus, her passions are playing guitar, gardening and any vacation that involves both hiking and drinking wine. She and her husband share their home with their red-headed, four-legged daughter Sydney.
What is your favorite part about Oral Fixation? My favorite part of Oral Fixation is having the opportunity to hear live stories without driving to Denton for the annual Texas Storyteller’s Festival! Well, that and the name, of course!
Who is your favorite cartoon character and why? Wile E. Coyote, because he bounces back from all adversity.
What’s your favorite smell? Magnolia.
What’s your favorite word? Please use it in a sentence. Discombobulated; Receiving a phone call from Gordon Ramsay while standing in the middle of a sheep pasture left me completely discombobulated.
What is the most embarrassing mistake you’ve ever made? Trying tequila shots for the very first time while playing rock ’n’ roll in front of several hundred people.
Name one thing you miss about being a kid. Having someone to kiss my boo boos.
What is the best book you’ve read in the last decade and why would you recommend it? The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. This is a great guide for living an authentic life and exploring the principles necessary to become the person you were born to be.
